Clean Energy

What is CNG?

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is a clean and efficient fuel derived from natural gas, primarily composed of methane. Natural gas is extracted from deep underground reservoirs and processed for use as an energy source.

When natural gas is compressed to a high pressure of approximately 200 bar (about 3000 psi) and stored in specially designed seamless steel cylinders, it is known as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). This compression allows a large quantity of gas to be stored safely and used as an alternative automotive fuel.

Advantages & Benefits of CNG

🛡️ Safety

1
Lighter than AirCNG is lighter than air and disperses quickly in case of leakage, preventing dangerous accumulation.
2
High Ignition TemperatureCNG has a higher ignition temperature than petrol, diesel, or LPG, reducing the risk of accidental or spontaneous combustion.
3
Safe StorageCNG is stored at high pressure (200 bar) in specially designed cylinders, which prevent air entry and significantly reduce the risk of explosion.

💰 Economy

1
Cost-Effective FuelCNG is more economical than petrol or diesel and offers better mileage, potentially reducing fuel expenses by up to 70–75%, depending on usage conditions.
2
Longer Engine Oil LifeDue to clean combustion, CNG does not contaminate engine oil, increasing oil life by up to three times.
3
Cleaner Spark PlugsCNG does not produce carbon deposits or sediments, keeping spark plugs cleaner and extending their life up to three times.
4
Better LubricationUnlike petrol, CNG does not wash away lubricating oil from cylinder walls, ensuring better lubrication and longer engine life.
5
Reduced EmissionsCNG combustion produces significantly fewer harmful gases, no smoke, and is less corrosive than gasoline, extending the life of the exhaust system and muffler.
6
High Octane RatingCNG has a higher octane value than gasoline, enabling smoother engine operation, quieter performance, and improved startup.

🌿 Environmental Benefits

1
Clean CombustionCNG contains no harmful additives and produces very low toxic emissions. Its homogeneous mixing with air ensures near-complete combustion, significantly reducing environmental pollution.
2
Eco-Friendly FuelCNG supports a cleaner and greener environment by lowering greenhouse gas emissions and contributing to sustainable energy use.

Maintenance Guidelines for CNG Vehicles

🌬️

Air Filter

Keep the air filter clean to ensure proper gas-air mixing, preventing higher fuel consumption and irregular engine operation.

🔌

Ignition System

Regularly inspect and maintain the ignition system. Replace worn or faulty components to ensure efficient performance on both petrol and CNG modes.

❄️

Cooling System

Maintain the radiator and water circulation system properly. Use coolant with anti-corrosive and anti-freezing properties to enhance engine life.

🔋

Starter & Battery

Ensure the starter motor and battery are in good condition for reliable vehicle operation.

⚙️

Intake & Exhaust Valves

Maintain the correct valve clearance between the valves and camshaft for smooth engine performance.

⚠️ Very Important Recommendations

  • Always have CNG systems inspected and serviced at an authorized workshop. Replace damaged components only with genuine spare parts.
  • After driving on CNG throughout the day, switch to petrol and drive 1–2 km before parking at night.
  • In the morning, start the vehicle on petrol, drive 1–2 km, and then switch to CNG mode.
  • This practice helps maintain the fuel system and ensures long-term reliability of your vehicle.
Alternative Fuel

What is LPG?

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a versatile and efficient fuel composed primarily of propane and butane. It is obtained as a by-product during the refining of crude oil and the processing of natural gas.

When these gases are compressed to a moderate pressure of approximately 10–15 bar, they liquefy and can be stored in compact, purpose-built tanks fitted inside vehicles. LPG has been widely adopted as a clean automotive fuel across the globe due to its economic and environmental advantages over petrol and diesel.

Advantages & Benefits of LPG

🛡️ Safety

1
Controlled Pressure StorageLPG is stored at relatively low pressure (around 10–15 bar) in purpose-built tanks, making it safe and easy to handle in vehicles.
2
Built-In Safety MechanismsModern LPG systems include multivalve assemblies, pressure relief valves, and automatic shut-off mechanisms to prevent leaks and over-pressurisation.
3
Odorant for Leak DetectionLPG contains a distinctive odourant that makes even small leaks immediately detectable, allowing prompt corrective action.

💰 Economy

1
Significant Fuel SavingsLPG typically costs 40–50% less than petrol, offering substantial daily savings for both personal and commercial vehicles.
2
High Energy ContentLPG has a high calorific value, delivering strong engine performance per unit of fuel consumed.
3
Lower Maintenance CostsLPG burns cleanly, reducing carbon build-up on engine components and extending the life of spark plugs, valves, and exhaust systems.
4
Extended Engine LifeThe cleaner combustion of LPG reduces wear on critical engine parts, leading to longer engine life and fewer repair needs.
5
Dual-Fuel FlexibilityLPG-converted vehicles retain the ability to run on petrol, giving drivers flexibility depending on fuel availability and pricing.

🌿 Environmental Benefits

1
Lower CO₂ EmissionsLPG produces approximately 15–20% fewer CO₂ emissions compared to petrol, contributing to reduced greenhouse gas output.
2
Reduced Particulate MatterLPG combustion generates virtually no particulate matter or soot, resulting in cleaner air and less smog in urban areas.
3
Non-Toxic & Non-ContaminatingUnlike liquid fuels, LPG does not contaminate soil or groundwater in the event of a leak, making it an environmentally responsible choice.

Maintenance Guidelines for LPG Vehicles

🔧

Mixer / Injector System

Ensure the gas mixer or injector nozzles are clean and functioning properly for accurate fuel delivery and optimal air-fuel ratio.

🌡️

Vapouriser / Reducer

Inspect the vapouriser (reducer) regularly. Check coolant connections to ensure the unit heats LPG correctly for proper vapourisation.

🔌

Ignition System

Maintain the ignition system in top condition. LPG requires consistent spark quality — replace worn spark plugs and ignition leads promptly.

🛢️

LPG Tank & Multivalve

Have the LPG tank and multivalve assembly inspected periodically. Ensure the pressure relief valve and automatic fill-stop are functioning correctly.

🔍

Hoses & Fittings

Check all LPG hoses, pipes, and fittings for signs of wear, cracking, or loosening. Replace any compromised components immediately.

⚠️ Very Important Recommendations

  • Always have LPG systems installed and serviced at an authorized and certified workshop. Use only genuine spare parts for all replacements.
  • Switch to petrol mode and drive 1–2 km before parking at night. This keeps the petrol injectors clean and the fuel pump primed.
  • Start the vehicle on petrol in the morning and let the engine warm up before switching to LPG mode for optimal vapourisation.
  • Have the LPG tank re-tested and certified as per local regulations (typically every 5–10 years) to ensure continued safe operation.
